2021 Turpie Farms Ltd Project |
Having built a 780 stall cubical wintering barn for Turpie Farms Ltd in 2011 this client expanded to where he required more off paddock wintering and feed pad surface.
To this end an identical layout to the 2011 shed was built along side the first shed but this time with no roof over the feed pad.
With Advanced Dairy Barns fully committed in Southland in 2021 work was started in September to supply all materials for bedding, stall dividers, precast concrete feed wall, feed rail and effluent scrapers from Winton Engineering Ltd.
This being an uncovered feed pad and exposed to Canterbury sunlight Kraiburg WELA mattress were chosen. These being single width mattress of 1200mm width this allowed for expansion and contraction between full sunlight and cooler conditions.
A local contractor Rural Builder Solutions Ltd worked with Winton Engineering Ltd support and undertook all the concrete work and fitting out the full feed pad to an excellent standard.
The finished product acts like a wintering barn without the roof and is used all year round for feeding and off paddock wintering.
