Casterbridge Farm Ltd Project |
The Casterbridge Farm Ltd project started in August 2019 with the building of a 600 stall shed with an additional 3 bays on one end to use as a calving facility. This project included the building of two silage bunkers and a complete new effluent pond.
Effluent was removed from the shed using Winton Effluent Scrapers into a drop pit and pumping pond. This pond was stirred and pumped using a Bauer stirrer and pump to move the slurry to a Bauer separator supported above a bunker to hold the solids. Liquid from the separator was contained in the new effluent pond.
This shed used the standard 36.5m width H beam portal frame with hot dip galvanised finish.
Columns in the 3 bays used for calving were moved to the edge of the 4m scraper lane to provide a clear span area in the calving facility. This area was covered in Kraiburg SIESTA puzzle matting with each side having a head-bale to assist with any calving issues.
